Falmouth - 16 vs. Saltash - 5
(Sep 26, League) Falmouth 16 pts Saltash 5 points Falmouth were made to work hard for their win as they were denied by solid Saltash defence and a series of wrong options. The home side were first to score through scrum half and skipper Tom Spiller with a penalty goal after 5 minutes, with the east Cornwall side having been penalised for slowing ball in the ruck. Spiller added a second after 20 minutes to put Falmouth 6-0 up at half time. After the turn around, Falmouths control of the game turn pressure into points when they put hooker Phil Wells in for a try and Spiller converted to move the home side to 13-0 with half an hour left on the clock. Further pressure from the home side saw Saltash crack and Spiller added another penalty to move Falmouth clear at 16-0. Wells was then sin-binned and Saltash found another gear, which moved them into the scoring zone and number 8 and skipper Steve Hillman was driven over for his sides only try, closing the gap slightly to 16-5 at the close.
